Introduction to Power Quality Compensators
Core function: Address power quality issues in the power grid, counteract or suppress voltage/current deviations, and ensure the stable operation of electrical equipment.
Key compensation targets:
Harmonics: Eliminate current/voltage harmonics generated by nonlinear loads (such as frequency converters and rectifiers) to prevent equipment overheating and shortened lifespan.
Reactive power: Compensate for the reactive power loss of inductive and capacitive loads, improve the power factor of the power grid, and reduce line losses.
Voltage fluctuation/flicker: Suppress the sudden increase/decrease in voltage caused by sudden load changes (such as motor start-up), and stabilize the supply voltage.
Three-phase imbalance: Balance the current/voltage differences in the three-phase system to prevent equipment from operating under off-load conditions.

Main types
Passive compensators (such as LC filters, shunt capacitor banks) : They have low cost and simple structure, and are suitable for fixed compensation scenarios, but their compensation accuracy is limited.
Active compensators (such as APF active power filters and STATCOM static synchronous compensators) : They feature fast response, flexible and precise compensation, and can dynamically adapt to load changes. They are mostly used in complex or high-precision demand scenarios.
Typical application scenarios: industrial plants (such as manufacturing and metallurgy industries), data centers, new energy grid-connected systems (wind power/photovoltaic), power supply systems for precision medical equipment, etc.
